2024 Teagarden Jazz Festival Awards

Recipients of festival awards/scholarships are selected by a panel of jazz adjudicators/clinicians in each performance venue.

Elementary/Middle School Division Awards of Excellence (since 2016)

Awards shall be awarded on the following instruments: bass, banjo, clarinet, drum, guitar, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba, vocal.

2 Awards for Private Music Lessons (since 2006) - $1000

1 $500 award for an Elementary School Musician
1 $500 award for a Middle School Musician

Scholarships for Outstanding Musicianship

These scholarships are derived from private donors who specified the criteria for recipient qualifications. Most are memorial scholarships designed to honor someone. Others are created by donors who wish to inspire students to further pursue their jazz education.

4 TEAGARDEN JAZZ CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS - $2,475

Rita Reed Jazz Camp Scholarships (since 2006)
Two half-tuition scholarships to the Teagarden Jazz Camp for 2 MS Musicians

Tom & Jan Arnold Memorial Jazz Camp Scholarships for Outstanding Leadership (2018)
Two full-tuition scholarships to the Teagarden Jazz Camp for 2 HS Musicians 

23 CASH SCHOLARSHIPS - $11,700

Our goal is to have a scholarship for every standard instrument in early jazz. At this time, we are in need of scholarship donors for the following instrument categories:  guitar, saxophone, string bass and tuba. These scholarships are in the amount of $500-$1,000.  

Bob Draga Clarinet Scholarships (since 2013)

Dillon Weatherly Trumpet Scholarships (since 2017)
